Psalm 45:1 "My heart overflows with a pleasing theme;
I address my verses to the king;
my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe." (ESV)
Last night my grandson Liam came to our door and said we had mail. I didn't understand what he said so I had him repeat it. He said, "Papa, you got mail." See, we have a little lock box outside our door that looks like a mail box. He was so excited and said it again, "Papa, you got mail."
Donna figured it out and I got the key and walked out to the little box, turned the key, and found two little pieces of paper and Liam was sooooo excited. One little folded piece of colored paper had written on the front, "Nana". On the inside was, "I love you, Nana! Love Ellie"
On my little piece of paper that Liam had colored was written, "to to Papa from Liam!" With a big heart drawn above the words.
Liam was so excited when I opened the box to find the notes. And Donna and I were so blessed when we read our little notes.
If only I was as excited when I pray as Liam was last night, thinking my prayers were offered with the same pure love and joy as our two grandchildren's notes were to us. And then to hope that my prayer would bring as much joy to God, as these two little ones brought to us.
Someone wrote, "Writing a note to God is a powerful act of worship, journaling, and communication. When feeling excited, or needing to process emotions, putting pen to paper can deepen your spiritual connection, allowing you to "unburden" your heart and "record" your faith journey."
Praying or writing a note to God is communicating your love and devotion to Him. It is connecting your heart to His.
