March 18th, 2020

To the Beloved,

After meeting with the church council last night and discussing the coronavirus outbreak and the effect it is having on churches worldwide, we have decided to follow the CDC (Center for Disease Control) guidelines and restrict all meetings, events and worship services, beginning today.

What does this mean for us as a church?

  • For right now, we are cancelling all worship services and Sunday morning activities for the next three weeks and will be evaluating as time goes on.  We will consider what to do for Easter service as the time nears.

  • We are also cancelling all church activities, group meeting, special events and fellowship times.

  • We are looking into what it takes to go on line.  But before we try this, I would like to make sure as many bugs are worked out before posting anything on the web.

  • Beginning Monday, March 23rd, I will be sending out a daily text of encouragement to all who would like to be in a group.  It is not to be responded to, just hopefully you will be encouraged by God’s word and any of my thoughts.

  • I will still hold office hours during the week for study and personal devotion time.  If you need anything, please reach out.  We are keeping staff in place and asking they stay connected to their prospective groups, finding ways to strengthen and encourage those in their sphere of influence.

  • For those in need of a store run, but cannot get out, please contact me and tell me what is needed and let me and others try to help out during these difficult days.

While we are not to be a slave to fear, taking necessary precautions are always a good idea.  Yes, this will be an inconvenience, and yes, I will miss meeting with you and enjoying your love and warm fellowship, but I do not want to become ill, nor would I want to pass anything on to someone else.

Since the church will continue to function in many other ways, if you would like to continue with your weekly tithing to help support the church, please do so by sending any checks to First Baptist Church, PO Box 6182 Los Osos, 93402.  Please hold any cash donations until the day you come back to church. We appreciate all that you do to help keep First Baptist Church up and running. Thank you!

On a happier note, Kim has allowed me to share some good news with you.  They are expecting their new addition to the family at the end of August or beginning of September.  For this reason, I am asking Kim to try to work from home as much as possible to limit her contact with others.

Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:11  NASU)

I Love You,

Pastor Bob

Dear Seniors,

During this time of shelter in place you are not alone.  Your church and staff is in place to meet almost any type of need you have  during this time.

Please contact Pastor Bob and we will do our best to meet your need.  At FBC of Los Osos we are creating a network of members that can be called upon to help you.
